Join the Alter Contest #6: Let’s Bounce!

Welcome to The Alter Contest #6, where creativity knows no bounds! This contest is Inspired by the Pwnisher 3D Community Challenges, we’re keeping it simple yet limitless with a basic bounce theme. But don’t be fooled by the simplicity – this is your canvas to go wild and bring your craziest ideas to life. We’re beyond excited to see what you create!

Contest Goal

The challenge is straightforward: take the 3D template from your preferred software, be it Maya, Blender, Unreal, or any other from the link below, and let your imagination run free. Transform the sphere, environment, lighting, and mood to create a unique 3D bounce effect as the example below. Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned 3D artist, this contest is for everyone. Let’s have fun, learn, grow together, and celebrate as a supportive community. All your hard work will be showcased in an epic montage on our socials.

How to Participate

Join our “The Alter Gang” Discord server to get all the help you need throughout this contest and to submit your entries. We’ve got dedicated pages for “Announcements,” “Tutorials,” “WIP,” and “Help” to guide you to the finish line. Plus, we’ll be hosting regular live sessions to showcase WIPs and conduct Q&A sessions.

Inside the Project Folder

  • Project Files Folder: We’ve prepared templates in Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine 5.1, FBX, ABC, and USD to kickstart your masterpiece. Any bugs or updates will be addressed through our Discord Announcement channel. More details will be in the README file inside the project files folder.   • References Folder:
    • Viewport Exports: Renders from the original project file for comparison.
    • Montage Example: A showcase of how each render will flow in the final montage video.

Contest Schedule

  • Contest Start Date: June 24th (Monday)
  • Kickoff Livestream: June 25th (Tuesday)
  • Deadline: August 10th @ 11:59 PM
  • All Render Montage: August 12th (Monday)
  • Winners & Top 10: August 16th (Friday)

Submission Guidelines

  • WIP(Work in Progress) Screen Recording: Minimum 2 minutes of WIP screen recording in the WIP channel.
  • Submission Format: MP4, MOV
  • Video Resolution: 1080 x 1920 or 2160 x 3840 (9:16)
  • Video Length: 5 seconds
  • Camera: Make sure the camera properties are intact as in the template.
    Submission form will be open soon.

Judging Criteria

  • Creativity: How creatively the ball and its environment are portrayed.
  • Technical Skill: The quality of the animation, including smoothness, physics, and attention to detail.
  • Storytelling: The ability to convey a story or concept through the animation.
  • Originality: Unique and innovative approaches to the given concept.
  • No Piracy: Submissions sourced from Sketchfab or similar websites will be rejected.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Eligibility: This contest is open to anyone 18 years or older. If you’re an employee of The Alter Office or a family member of an employee, you’re not eligible to participate. Also, this contest is only open to residents of India, and prizes can only be awarded and shipped within India.
  2. Judging and Winners:
    • Winners will be selected by an internal jury based on creativity, originality, technical execution, and aesthetic appeal.
    • The jury’s decision is final.
  3. Intellectual Property: By entering, participants grant The Alter Gang permission to use, showcase, and promote their submitted videos for purposes related to the contest, without any further compensation.
  4. Code of Conduct: Entries must be appropriate for all audiences and must not contain any content that is offensive, harmful, or otherwise inappropriate. Failure to comply with this rule will result in disqualification.
  5. Changes to the Contest: The Alter Gang reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the contest if any fraud, technical failures, or any other factor beyond The Alter Gang’s control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the contest.
  6. Agreement to Terms: Participation in the contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Terms and Conditions.
