What is .GLB file format?
A GLB file (.glb) stands for “GL Transmission Format Binary file” and is a standardized file format used to share 3D data. It can contain information about 3D scenes, models, lighting, materials, node hierarchy and animation. GLB is commonly used in Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), games, and web applications because it can support motion and animation without sacrificing quality.
Why .GLB file is better than other formats?
One of the advantages of this format is its small size- meaning faster load times for users. It’s also incredibly lightweight, contains a full PBR shader and textures, can contain dynamic elements like animation unlike static formats like .obj, and can be viewed near-instantaneously with no coding required.
How .GLB is used in Alter universe?
Creators can upload their creations in .GLB format in Alter Shop for other users to purchase and equip as their body or use in their lands in Alter Universe.
